Let’s try the new Asian Mall in Eden Prairie. Dine at more than a half-dozen restaurants, from a meal at Hot Pot City to sweets at Mochi Dough. After lunch we can browse the first floor grocery store featuring live seafood, exotic fruits and all kinds of Asian snacks, sodas and foods.

WINTER WALKERS: Wednesday, January 11th, 11:00AM—MOA
West main entrance 1st floor. We will be walking and window shopping on the 2nd Wednesday of each of these winter months only. Get out of the house and enjoy ice-free walking with other Wanderers indoors at the Mall of America. Walk whatever your speed from 11 am to noon.
We will start at the West main entrance of the FIRST floor; there should be lockers there per the website. Join us at any point finishing on the FIRST floor at noon (same starting point) where we will adjourn to Crave for lunch; join us there even if you chose not to walk.

VEAP is a basic needs organization whose programs include access to healthy foods, social services, housing stability and supportive services. Come and work at the VEAP food shelf from 2:15-5:15. Training is provided. We will have dinner/Happy Hour at Lucky 13 Pub near Southtown after our service.
A carpool leaves the east side parking lot of the Southtown AMF Bowling Alley at 1:45 PM. Please indicate if you plan to carpool or meet us there.
If you drive: go around to the west side of the building (overlooking 35W) and park farther back if possible—keep closer rows open for Food Shelf clients. Enter through Door 2 on the west side marked “VEAP Volunteers and Staff.” Wear closed-toed shoes.

The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See (historical fiction)
Set on the Korean island of Jeju, The Island of Sea Women follows Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls from very different backgrounds, as they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective. Over many decades—through the Japanese colonialism of the 1930s and 1940s, World War II, the Korean War, and the era of cellphones and wet suits for the women divers—Mi-ja and Young-sook develop the closest of bonds.

Enjoy a break from winter and riveting classical music at a memorable daytime concert in downtown Minneapolis. Afterward we’ll cross the Mall for a savory British lunch at Brit’s Pub.
“French pianist Alexandre Kantorow, 2019 winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, performs Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto. Japanese conductor Kazuki Yamada makes his debut leading the Orchestra in Tōru Takemitsu’s breathtaking piece, How Slow the Wind, also receiving its first performance here, before taking the Orchestra and audience through Dvořák’s New World Symphony.”
COST: $29 for Senior groups of 10 or more. Otherwise, individual tickets are $35 to $78 main floor around row 7. I need to know if 10 people are going by February 5th to call and get the group rate.

PARKING OPTIONS
- A carpool will leave the parking area near Rustica at the NE end of Southdale at 10:15AM sharp, returning after lunch around 3PM. We’ll park in the skyway-connected ramp and walk about 1 block.
- Limited parking under Brit’s second story greenway. $12 for 4-12 hours.
- Skyway-connected 11th Street public ramp
- Coffee Concert Coach Bus from the Southdale Library. $20 plus your concert ticket. Bus tickets can be ordered when you purchase the concert ticket. Leaves at 9:15AM, returns by 1:45PM.
- Drive up valet—at the 11th Street main Hall entrance and must be preordered. $25 It’s available 90 minutes before the concert but only ½ hour after the concert. May be purchased up to 24 hours before concert.
